Alan Small is a contemporary western artist whose work blends the grit and storytelling of the American West with bold color, graphic design and modern artistic energy Drawing inspiration from ranch life, wildlife, open landscapes and the people and culture of the frontier, his paintings offer a fresh and unexpected interpretation of Western art.
A lifelong creator, Alan’s artistic path has been shaped by wildlife biology, and landscape design along with years of exploration in wood art, pen and ink, watercolor and painting His work reflects a deep appreciation for both the natural world and the overlooked moments of ever life.
Travel throughout the United States and Europe has also played a significant role in shaping his artistic voice, broadening his perspective on history, culture and storytelling Those influences now weave their way into his contemporary Western pieces, where classic subjects such as cowboys, riders, longhorns and wide open skies are reimagined through striking color palettes and bold composition
Alan’s paintings balance myth and modernity - where ranch life meets graphic design and traditional Western themes take on a vibrant contemporary pulse His work appeals to collectors who appreciate art that gels both rooted in tradition and refreshing original. Currently based in the southwest, Alan continues to draw inspiration from the raw beauty, expansive skies and cultural richness of the contemporary west.
